  1. About our terms.
    1. These terms and conditions of use (Terms) explain how you may use this website and any of its content (Site). These Terms apply between Petscribers Ltd (we, us or our) and you, the person accessing or using the Site (you or your).
    2. You should read these Terms carefully before using the Site. By using the Site or otherwise indicating your consent, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any of these Terms, you should stop using the Site immediately.
    3. The Site is provided by us to you free of charge for information purposes only. 
  2. About us
    1. We are Petscribers Ltd trading as Petscribers, a company registered in England and Wales under company registration number 13565124. Our registered office is at Abbey Mill, Mill Lane, Malmesbury, England, SN16 0AD.

  3. Using the site
    1. The Site is for your personal and non-commercial use only.
    2. We get information from third parties including but not limited to veterinary pharmacies, and we can’t guarantee that everything is accurate (for example, we endeavour to keep pricing data accurate but cannot guarantee it). When providing our Site, we take reasonable care and act with professional diligence. We can’t be held responsible for any errors, interruptions, or missing bits of information. Of course, we’ll do everything we can to correct/fix them as soon as we become aware of them.
    3. You agree that you are solely responsible for all costs and expenses you may incur in relation to your use of the Site.
    4. We make no promise that the Site is appropriate or available for use in locations outside of the UK. If you choose to access the Site from locations outside the UK, you acknowledge you do so at your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local laws where they apply.
    5. We try to make the Site as accessible as possible. If you have any difficulties using the Site, please contact us using the contact details at the top of this page.
    6. As a condition of your use of the Site, you agree to comply with our Acceptable Use Policy available at Schedule 1 and agree not to:
      1. misuse or attack our Site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or any other material which is malicious or technologically harmful (such as by way of a denial-of-service attack), or
      2. attempt to gain unauthorised access to our Site, the server on which our Site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to our Site.
      3. We may prevent or suspend your access to the Site if you do not comply with these Terms or any applicable law.
  4. Our role as a service comparison site 
    1. You acknowledge and agree that: 
        1. our role as a service comparison site is to list, describe and compare veterinary products and services and we make no endorsements nor have any involvement in the creation, quality, legality, suitability, reliability, availability or delivery of products and services provided by third-party veterinary clinics, practices or pharmacies;
        2. our Site does not offer a comprehensive market comparison and may not include all available options;
        3. choosing the right medication for your pet is an important decision that should always be made with the advice of a qualified veterinary professional. While our Site may provide general information or links to third-party products, this is not a substitute for veterinary guidance tailored to your pet’s specific needs. Always consult your vet before starting, changing, or stopping any treatment for your pet; and
        4. we are not liable for any incorrect prescriptions, side effects, or any harm caused by medications or for any other acts or omissions by third-party veterinary clinics, practices or pharmacies.
  5. Registration and password security
    1. Use of the Site may require registration, particularly in order to access restricted areas of the Site.
    2. We are not obliged to permit anyone to register with the Site and we may refuse, terminate or suspend registration to anyone at any time.
    3. You are responsible for making sure that your password and any other account details are kept secure and confidential.
    4. If we have reason to believe there is likely to be a breach of security or misuse of the Site through your account or the use of your password, we may notify you and require you to change your password, or we may suspend or terminate your account.
    5. Any personal information you provide to us as part of the registration process will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy available at www.petscribers.co.uk/privacy Use of the Site is also governed by our Cookies Policy available at www.petscribers.co.uk/cookies .
  6. Infringing content
    1. We will use reasonable efforts to:
        1. delete accounts which are being used in an inappropriate manner or in breach of these Terms; and
        2. identify and remove any content that is unlawful, inappropriate, defamatory, infringes intellectual property rights or is otherwise in breach of our Acceptable Use Policy when we are notified of the same. 
    2. If you believe that any content which is distributed or published by the Site is unlawful, inappropriate, defamatory or infringing on intellectual property rights, you should contact us immediately using the contact details at the top of this page.
  7. Your privacy and personal information
    1. Your privacy and personal information are important to us. Any personal information that you provide to us will be dealt with in line with our Privacy Policy available at www.petscribers.co.uk/privacy , which explains what personal information we collect from you, how and why we collect, store, use and share such information, your rights in relation to your personal information and how to contact us and supervisory authorities in the event you have a query or complaint about the use of your personal information.
  8. Ownership, use and intellectual property rights
    1. The intellectual property rights in the Site and in any text, images, video, audio or other multimedia content, software or other information or material submitted to or accessible from the Site (Content) are owned by us and our licensors.
    2. We and our licensors reserve all our intellectual property rights (including, but not limited to, all copyright, trade marks, domain names, design rights, database rights, patents and all other intellectual property rights of any kind) whether registered or unregistered anywhere in the world. This means, for example, that we remain owners of them and are free to use them as we see fit.
    3. Nothing in these Terms grants you any legal rights in the Site or the Content other than as necessary for you to access it. You agree not to adjust, try to circumvent or delete any notices contained on the Site or the Content (including any intellectual property notices) and in particular, in any digital rights or other security technology embedded or contained within the Site or the Content.
    4. Trade marks: Our trademarks are owned by us. Other trade marks and trade names may also be used on the Site or in the Content. Use by you of any trade marks on the Site or in the Content is strictly prohibited unless you have our prior written permission.
    5. Unless you have our prior written consent, you are expressly prohibited from:
        1. using any automated process, software, or script to extract, scrape, crawl or collect data or content from this Site (Site Content ) in any manner, including but not limited to the use of web crawlers, bots, or spiders;
        2. aggregating, collecting, or compiling Site Content for commercial or non-commercial purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of Site Content to create databases, directories, or other aggregated content; and
        3. using any artificial intelligence (AI) tools, machine learning algorithms, or other automated technologies to analyse, process, or generate content based on or through the use of Site Content. This includes, but is not limited to, using the Site Content to (i) train AI models (ii) for any form of automated content generation and (iii) as input to an AI system, as a prompt, request, question, instruction or similar.
        4. By accessing and using this Site, you agree to comply with these restrictions. Any attempt to bypass these restrictions may result in legal action and/or termination of access to the Site.
  9. Submitting information to the site
    1. While we try to make sure that the Site is secure, we do not actively monitor or check whether information supplied to us through the Site is confidential, commercially sensitive or valuable.
    2. Other than any personal information which will be dealt with in accordance with our Privacy Policy, we do not guarantee that information supplied to us through the Site will be kept confidential and we may use it on an unrestricted and free-of-charge basis as we reasonably see fit.
  10. Accuracy of information and availability of the site
    1. We try to make sure that the Site is accurate, up-to-date and free from bugs, but we cannot promise that it will be. Furthermore, we cannot promise that the Site will be fit or suitable for any purpose. Any reliance that you may place on the information on the Site is at your own risk.
    2. We may suspend or terminate access or operation of the Site at any time as we see fit.
    3. Any Content is provided for your general information purposes only and to inform you about us and our products and news, features, services and other websites that may be of interest, but has not been tailored to your specific requirements or circumstances. It does not constitute technical, financial or legal advice or any other type of advice and should not be relied on for any purposes.     2. We’re not a party to the terms between you and any third party listed on our Site. The third party is solely responsible for any purchase you make from them.
  12. We may earn a commission from third party sites 
    1. Some of the links on the Site may be affiliate links. This means that if you click on the link and make a purchase or take another qualifying action, we may earn a commission or receive a benefit from the third party. These commissions do not affect the price you pay or influence our content. However, inclusion of an affiliate link does not imply our endorsement of the third-party product, service, or website. We aim to provide links we believe may be relevant or useful, but we do not control or guarantee the quality, accuracy, or suitability of any third-party offerings.

    1. If we breach these Terms or are negligent, we are liable to you for foreseeable loss or damage that you suffer as a result. By ‘foreseeable’ we mean that, at the time these Terms were formed, it was either clear that such loss or damage would occur or you and we both knew that it might reasonably occur, as a result of something we did (or failed to do).
    2. We are not liable to you for any loss or damage that was not foreseeable, any loss or damage not caused by our breach or negligence, or any business loss or damage.
    3. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for any death or personal injury caused by our negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
  15. Events beyond our control
    1. We are not liable to you if we fail to comply with these Terms because of circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
  16. No third party rights
    1. No one other than us or you has any right to enforce any of these Terms.
  17. Variation

    2. We reserve the right to vary these Terms from time to time. Our updated Terms will be displayed on the Site and by continuing to use and access the Site following such changes, you agree to be bound by any variation made by us. It is your responsibility to check these Terms from time to time to verify such variations.
  18. Complaints
    1. We will try to resolve any disputes with you quickly and efficiently. If you are unhappy with us, please contact us as soon as possible using the contact details set out at the top of this page.
    2. The laws of England and Wales apply to these Terms, although if you are resident elsewhere you will retain the benefit of any mandatory protections given to you by the laws of that country.
    3. Any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. This means that you can choose whether to bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales or in the courts of another part of the UK in which you live.

Schedule 1

  1. Acceptable Use Policy
    1. You must comply with these standards in spirit as well as to the letter. 
    2. Petscribers Ltd will determine, in its discretion, whether your use of our site breaches these acceptable use standards.
    3. You may not use our site:
      1. In any way that breaches any local, national or international law or regulation.
      2. In any way that is unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect.
      3. For the purpose of harming or attempting to harm minors in any way.
      4. To bully, insult, intimidate or humiliate any person.
      5. To send, knowingly receive, upload, download, share, post, use or re-use any material which does not comply with our content standards.
      6. To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorised advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).
      7. To knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.
    4. Any material you upload or share to our site or generate on our site (User Content):
      1. Must be accurate (where it states facts).
      2. Only contain opinions that are genuinely held.
      3. Must comply with the law applicable in any country from which it is posted and to which the website is targeted.
    5. User Content must not:
      1. Be defamatory of any person.
      2. Be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory.
      3. Infringe any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person.
      4. Include video content that has been or would be likely to be given an R18 certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC).
      5. Include video content not suitable for BBFC classification.
      6. Include material that might impair the physical, mental or moral development of persons under the age of 18.
      7. Be likely to deceive any person.
      8. Breach any legal duty owed to a third party, such as a contractual duty or a duty of confidence.
      9. Contain illegal content or promote any illegal content or activity.
      10. Be in contempt of court.
      11. Be threatening, abuse or invade another's privacy, or cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety.
      12. Be likely to harass, upset, embarrass, alarm or annoy any other person.
      13. Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person.
      14. Give the impression that the User Content emanates from Petscribers Ltd, if this is not the case.
      15. Advocate, promote, incite any party to commit, or assist any unlawful or criminal act such as (by way of example only) copyright infringement or computer misuse.
      16. Contain a statement which you know or believe, or have reasonable grounds for believing, that members of the public to whom the statement is, or is to be, published are likely to understand as a direct or indirect encouragement or other inducement to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
      17. Be pornographic.
  2. Illegal content
    1. In addition, you must not use our site in any way that involves the following:
      1. Terrorism.
      2. Child sexual exploitation or abuse including grooming and child sexual abuse material.
      3. Hate offences.
      4. Harassment, stalking, making threats or abuse.
      5. Controlling or coercive behaviour.
      6. Intimate image abuse.
      7. Extreme pornography.
      8. Sexual exploitation of adults.
      9. Human trafficking.
      10. Unlawful immigration.
      11. Fraud and financial offences.
      12. Proceeds of crime offences.
      13. Drugs or psychoactive substance offences.
      14. Firearms, knives and other weapons offences.
      15. Encouraging or assisting suicide.
      16. Foreign interference offences.
      17. Animal cruelty.
  3. Content very harmful to children
    1. The following must not be uploaded, shared or generated directly on this service:
      1. Pornographic content.
      2. Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for suicide.
      3. Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an act of deliberate self-injury.
      4. Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an eating disorder or behaviours associated with an eating disorder.
  4. Other content harmful to children
    1. You must not upload, post, create on our site or share any of the following:
      1. Content that is abusive and which targets any of the following characteristics: race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, gender reassignment.
      2. Content which incites hatred against people:
        1. of a particular race (including colour, nationality, and ethnic or national origins, religion (including lack of religion), sex or sexual orientation;
        2. who have a physical or mental disability; or
        3. who have the characteristic of gender reassignment (meaning the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning the person's sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex).
      3. Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an act of serious violence against a person.
      4. Bullying content.
      5. Content which:
        1. depicts real or realistic serious violence against a person (real or not);
        2. depicts the real or realistic serious injury of a person (real or not) in graphic detail.
      6. Content which:
        1. depicts real or realistic serious violence against an animal (real or not);
        2. depicts the real or realistic serious injury of an animal (real or not) in graphic detail;
        3. realistically depicts serious violence against a fictional creature or the serious injury of a fictional creature in graphic detail.
      7. Content which encourages, promotes or provides instructions for a challenge or stunt highly likely to result in serious injury to the person who does it or to someone else.
      8. Content which encourages a person to ingest, inject, inhale or in any other way self-administer:
        1. a physically harmful substance;
        2. a substance in such a quantity as to be physically harmful.
  5. Offences
    1. You must not upload, post, create on our site, share or cause any uploading, posting, creation or sharing, of any of the following:
      1. A grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing message intending to cause offence, menace, distress or anxiety.
      2. A false message knowing it to be false, intending to cause non-trivial psychological or physical harm to a likely audience, and with no reasonable excuse.
      3. A message threatening death or serious harm while intending or being reckless as to whether the object of the threat would fear that the threat would be carried out.
      4. Flashing images when it is reasonably foreseeable that an individual with epilepsy will see it and the sender intended that the individual would suffer harm and the sender has no reasonable excuse for sending the images.
      5. A communication that intends to encourage serious self-harm.
      6. An unsolicited sexual image, including a manufactured intimate image or "deepfake" intending the recipient to be caused alarm, distress or humiliation, or for the purpose of sexual gratification and being reckless as to whether the recipient will be caused alarm, distress or humiliation.
      7. A sexually explicit deepfake.
  6. Additional provisions for video content
    1. You must comply with our guidance on use of maturity or sensitivity ratings on video content.
    2. For the avoidance of doubt, for any User Content in the form of video content:
      1. You must tell us immediately, if you upload a video containing any of the following: criminal material (relating to terrorism, sexual exploitation of children, child pornography, racism and xenophobia), unclassified or unclassifiable videos, videos rated R18 or suitable for R18 rating and other material that might impair the physical, mental or moral development of persons under the age of 18 (restricted material).
      2. You must not upload a video containing material likely to incite violence or hatred against a group of persons or a member of a group of persons based on any of the following grounds: sex, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or other belief, political opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age or sexual orientation.
  7. Advertising
    1. You must not upload, post, create on our site or share content containing any advertising or promoting any services or web links to other sites, including (but not limited to) any advertising or promoting pertaining to veterinary medicines.
    2. You must not upload a video containing advertising for any of the following:
      1. Cigarettes and other tobacco products, electronic cigarettes or electronic cigarette refill containers, and prescription-only medicine; or
      2. Alcoholic drinks that are not aimed specifically at under 18s and do not encourage immoderate consumption of alcohol.
    3. Any advertising included in a video you upload must not:
      1. Prejudice respect for human dignity.
      2. Include or promote discrimination based on sex, racial or ethnic origin, nationality, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation.
      3. Encourage behaviour prejudicial to health or safety.
      4. Encourage behaviour grossly prejudicial to the protection of the environment.
      5. Cause physical, mental or moral detriment to persons under the age of 18.
      6. Directly exhort such persons to purchase or rent goods or services in a manner which exploits their inexperience or credulity.
      7. Directly encourage such persons to persuade their parents or others to purchase or rent goods or services.
      8. Exploit the trust of such persons in parents, teachers or others.
      9. Unreasonably show such persons in dangerous situations.
    4. You must use the functionality provided on our site to declare whether, as far as you know or can reasonably be expected to know, any video contains advertising.
